entities
Things that exist
Entities are things that exist as distinct units.
The word often appears in contexts requiring precision about what counts as a separate item: The database tracks three types of entities.
Legal and business entities are organizations recognized as having their own identity—corporations, governments, trusts.
In philosophy and fiction, entity can mean any being or creature: a supernatural entity, an alien entity.
The singular form entity is more common than the plural.
