prosthetics
Manufactured body parts
Prosthetics is the branch of medicine concerned with artificial body parts—limbs, joints, eyes, teeth.
The term also refers collectively to such devices themselves: advances in prosthetics have transformed rehabilitation.
A single artificial limb or part is a prosthetic, which also works as an adjective: prosthetic leg, prosthetic arm.
The field encompasses both functional replacements and cosmetic ones.
