zombis

Voodoo-raised dead bodies

Zombis is an alternate spelling of zombies, the plural of zombie.

In Haitian Vodou tradition, a zombi is a corpse reanimated through magic, enslaved to a sorcerer's will.

The spelling without the final -e appears in ethnographic and religious contexts, closer to the Haitian Creole original: The bokor was said to control several zombis.
