Sauce thickening agent
Cornstarch is a fine white powder extracted from corn kernels, used primarily as a thickening agent in cooking.
It thickens sauces, gravies, and puddings when heated with liquid: Add a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy.
Outside the kitchen, cornstarch appears in cosmetics and as a base for baby powder.
Called cornflour in British English.
