video cassette
Magnetic film housing
A video cassette is a plastic cartridge containing magnetic tape for recording and playing back video, used primarily from the 1970s through the 1990s.
The VHS format dominated home video, though Betamax and other formats existed.
We rented a video cassette from Blockbuster every Friday night.
Largely obsolete, replaced by DVDs and streaming.
Also spelled videocassette.
