Blu-ray

High-definition format

Blu-ray is an optical disc format for storing high-definition video and data, succeeding DVD.

The name refers to the blue-violet laser used to read the disc, which allows for denser data storage than DVD's red laser.

The movie looks stunning on Blu-ray.

Blu-ray players and discs became standard for home video in the late 2000s, though streaming has increasingly displaced physical media.
