video DVD
Optical film medium
A video DVD is a digital disc format for storing and playing movies and other video content.
The format dominated home video from the late 1990s until streaming services largely displaced physical media.
We still have a shelf of video DVDs from the 2000s.
The phrase distinguishes from audio-only or data DVDs, though "DVD" alone usually implies video content.
