trilogy

Three connected works

A trilogy is a set of three related works—novels, films, or other creative pieces—that form a unified narrative or thematic whole.

The works are typically released separately but designed to be experienced together: the original Star Wars trilogy, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Unlike a series, which may continue indefinitely, a trilogy is complete at three.
