CD burning
Creating music discs
CD burning is the process of writing data, music, or other files onto a recordable compact disc using a laser that creates microscopic marks on the disc's surface.
The term emerged in the 1990s when home CD-R drives became affordable: I spent the weekend burning CDs of my favorite songs.
Though largely obsolete now, burning persists in software interfaces for creating optical media.
