getaway

Flee the scene

A getaway is an escape, especially from a crime scene: The robbers made their getaway in a stolen car.

A getaway car or getaway driver facilitates such an escape.

The word also means a short vacation or retreat: a romantic weekend getaway, a mountain getaway.

The two senses share the idea of leaving quickly or getting away from ordinary life.
