Money going out
An expense is money spent or cost incurred.
Business expenses include rent, salaries, and supplies.
Personal expenses cover daily living costs.
The plural often appears in set phrases: travel expenses, medical expenses, at the company's expense.
To expense something is to charge it to an account or claim reimbursement: I expensed the client dinner.
Figuratively, at someone's expense means to their detriment or as the butt of a joke: They laughed at his expense.
