creep
Stealthy, slow movement
To creep is to move along slowly and quietly, close to the ground – often as a way of moving secretively.
Plants that slowly spread in this way are said to creep (creeping buttercup).
A feeling that creeps up on you becomes slowly and increasingly uncomfortable: A sense of fear crept up on him as he walked through the dark alley.
A creep may be a steady but slow movement, often in an undesirable direction (mission creep).
A person designated as a creep is one you dislike strongly because of their disturbing speech or behavior: The man hanging around the playground is a creep.
