tow

Pull a vehicle

To tow is to pull something behind a vehicle or vessel, typically using a rope, chain, or hitch: The truck towed the broken-down car to the shop.

A tow is the act of being pulled or the vehicle doing the pulling: We called for a tow.

To have someone in tow is to bring them along.

Separately, tow is coarse fiber from flax or hemp, or the pale yellowish color of that fiber: tow-headed describes someone with very light blond hair.
