Wheeled moving platform
A dolly is a small platform on wheels used for moving heavy objects: We loaded the refrigerator onto a dolly.
In film and television, a dolly is a wheeled platform that carries a camera for smooth tracking shots—to dolly is to move the camera this way: The director wanted to dolly in slowly on the actor's face.
Dolly is also a child's word for a doll. (Capitalized Dolly is a given name.)
