tors
Bare granite outcrops
Tors is the plural of tor, a high rocky hill or a pile of rocks on top of a hill.
The word is particularly associated with the granite outcrops of southwestern England: We hiked across Dartmoor, stopping at several tors along the way.
Tors are typically formed by weathering of exposed rock over millennia.
