tin can
Sealed metal food container
A tin can is a sealed metal container for preserving food or beverages, made from tinplate or aluminum.
The term persists even though modern cans contain little actual tin.
We opened a tin can of beans for dinner.
In naval slang, a tin can is a destroyer—a small, lightly armored warship.
To kick the can down the road is to postpone dealing with a problem.
