wreck
Total the car
Wreck describes something ruined or destroyed—a ship broken apart on rocks, a car crumpled in a collision, a building reduced to rubble.
The word extends to people in poor condition: I was a wreck after the divorce.
To wreck is to destroy or severely damage: The storm wrecked the coastline.
A wreck can also be the remains of destruction: divers exploring the wreck.
