telegrapher
Dots-and-dashes professional
A telegrapher is a person who operates a telegraph, sending and receiving messages in Morse code or similar systems.
The occupation was essential to 19th and early 20th century communication—in railroad stations, newsrooms, and military operations.
The telegrapher tapped out the message as fast as it came through.
