lineman
Grid iron blocker
A lineman is a worker who installs and maintains electrical power lines or telephone lines, typically working from poles or elevated platforms.
In American football, linemen are the players positioned along the line of scrimmage—offensive linemen block for the quarterback and running backs, while defensive linemen try to penetrate the opposing line.
The lineman climbed the utility pole to restore power after the storm.
