tape recording
Magnetic sound capture
A tape recording is audio or video captured on magnetic tape, or the physical medium containing it: I found old tape recordings of my grandmother singing.
The term persists even as the technology has largely been replaced by digital formats.
To tape-record is to make such a recording.
