punch-in
Start your shift
Punch-in refers to the act of recording one's arrival at work, typically by inserting a timecard into a clock or using an electronic system.
The term extends to audio recording, where a punch-in is the technique of dropping into record mode at a specific point to replace or fix a portion of an existing track: The guitarist did a quick punch-in to fix that one flubbed note.
As a verb, to punch in means to perform either action.
