table wine

Everyday mealtime red

Table wine is ordinary wine meant for drinking with meals, as opposed to sparkling wines, fortified wines, or wines reserved for special occasions.

The term suggests everyday drinkability rather than prestige: We picked up a decent table wine for dinner.

In U.S. regulations, table wine also denotes wines with alcohol content between 7 and 14 percent.
