Sangiovese

Chianti's main grape

Sangiovese is a red wine grape variety, the most widely planted in Italy and the principal grape in Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino.

The wines tend toward medium body with high acidity and flavors of cherry and earth: a nice Sangiovese from Tuscany.

The name comes from Italian words meaning "blood of Jove."
