Merlot
Soft red wine
Merlot is a red wine grape variety, and the wine produced from it.
Known for its soft, velvety texture and flavors of plum, cherry, and chocolate, it's among the most popular red wines worldwide.
Merlot gained notoriety in the film Sideways when the protagonist declared he wouldn't drink it, temporarily damaging its reputation: We ordered a bottle of Merlot with dinner. (Often lowercase as merlot in casual usage.)
