liqueur

Infused dessert alcohol

A liqueur is a sweet, flavored alcoholic spirit, typically served after dinner or used in cocktails and cooking.

Liqueurs are made by infusing a base spirit with fruits, herbs, spices, nuts, or cream: coffee liqueur, orange liqueur, cherry liqueur.

They tend to be lower in alcohol and higher in sugar than straight spirits.

Common examples include Kahlúa, Grand Marnier, and Amaretto.
