syrah
Dark-skinned wine grape
Syrah is a red wine grape variety producing full-bodied, dark wines with notes of black fruit, pepper, and smoke.
The grape thrives in warmer climates and is central to wines from France's Rhône Valley.
In Australia and South Africa, the same grape is called shiraz: a bold syrah from California, Australian shiraz tends toward riper, jammier flavors.
