limited release
Not widely available
Limited release describes a distribution strategy where something—usually a film, album, or product—is made available in only a select number of locations or quantities.
In film, a limited release opens in a handful of theaters, often in major cities, before potentially expanding based on performance: The indie darling started in limited release before going wide.
The term also applies to special editions or small-batch products marketed for their scarcity.
