supper
Late day dining
Supper is an evening meal, though its relationship to dinner varies by region and era.
In some traditions, dinner is the midday meal and supper the lighter evening one.
Elsewhere, supper is a late-night snack after dinner, or simply a synonym for dinner itself.
What's for supper?
The word tends toward informality and domesticity—supper is what you have at home, not at a restaurant.
