smokejumper
Parachuting forest firefighter
A smokejumper is a firefighter who parachutes into remote wilderness areas to combat forest fires.
The job requires both firefighting expertise and parachute skills, since crews often land in rugged terrain far from roads: Smokejumpers were deployed to contain the blaze before it spread.
