hotshots
Showy skilled people
Hotshots are people who are exceptionally skilled or successful, often with an implication of cockiness: Some hotshot lawyer from New York took the case.
The word carries a whiff of resentment—calling someone a hotshot acknowledges their talent while suggesting they know it too well.
In wildfire fighting, hotshots are elite firefighters trained for the most dangerous conditions.
