water bomber
Aerial firefighting aircraft
A water bomber is an aircraft equipped to drop water or fire retardant on wildfires.
These planes scoop water from lakes or carry tanks that can be refilled on the ground, then release their payload over burning areas: Water bombers circled the ridge all afternoon.
Also called an air tanker or firefighting aircraft.
