ridgeline

Peak's upper edge

A ridgeline is the crest where two slopes meet at the top of a ridge—the highest continuous line along a mountain or hill.

Hikers follow ridgelines for views and navigation.

In military contexts, controlling the ridgeline means commanding the high ground.

The term also describes the peak line of a roof: The ridgeline runs the length of the house.
