wind drift
Bullet's lateral displacement
Wind drift is the lateral displacement of something—a bullet, aircraft, boat, or falling object—caused by wind pushing it off its intended course.
Marksmen adjust for wind drift when aiming at distant targets.
Pilots compensate for it to maintain heading.
In meteorology, wind drift also describes the movement of snow, sand, or other particles blown by wind into accumulations.
