guitar body
Instrument's hollow torso
The guitar body is the large, hollow or solid main section of the instrument, distinct from the neck and headstock.
In acoustic guitars, the body's resonant chamber amplifies the strings' vibrations; in electric guitars, the body houses pickups and controls.
Body shape, wood, and construction significantly affect tone: a mahogany body produces warmer sound than maple.
