sepulture

Laying to rest

Sepulture is burial or interment—the act of placing a body in a grave or tomb.

The word is literary and archaic, appearing mainly in historical or poetic contexts: The knight was given honorable sepulture in the cathedral.

It can also refer to a burial place itself, though this use is rare.
