seeing eye dog
Visually impaired's navigator
A seeing eye dog is a dog trained to guide a blind person, helping them navigate obstacles and cross streets safely.
The term comes from The Seeing Eye, the first American guide dog school, founded in 1929.
Though technically a trademark, it's widely used generically: Her seeing eye dog waited patiently under the restaurant table.
Guide dog is the more general term.
