service animal
Disability support creature
A service animal is an animal trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability, such as guiding someone who is blind, alerting someone who is deaf, or providing physical support during seizures.
In the United States, the Americans with Disabilities Act recognizes only dogs (and in limited cases, miniature horses) as service animals, distinguishing them from emotional support animals, which lack task-specific training.
Service animals are permitted in public spaces where pets typically are not.
