emu
Australia's largest bird
An emu is a large flightless bird native to Australia, second only to the ostrich in size.
Emus have shaggy gray-brown plumage, long necks, and powerful legs built for running.
They're farmed for meat, oil, and leather: Emu oil is marketed as a skin treatment. (Uppercase EMU is the European monetary union.)
