scraps

Bits and pieces

Scraps are small pieces or bits left over after the main part of something has been used.

Food scraps are the uneaten remains of a meal, often given to pets or composted.

Scraps of fabric or paper are remnants that might be saved for later projects.

In the plural, scraps can also mean fights or quarrels, usually brief and informal ones: The kids got into scraps on the playground.

If you scrap something, you discard it or abandon a plan entirely.
