windborne

Swept by gusts

Windborne means carried by the wind.

The term applies especially to seeds, pollen, and spores that travel through air currents: Dandelion seeds are windborne, drifting miles from the parent plant.

Windborne also describes airborne contaminants or particles: windborne dust, windborne pollution.

Sometimes spelled as two words: wind-borne.
