propshaft

Torque delivery rod

A propshaft is a driveshaft—the rotating shaft that transmits power from a vehicle's engine to its wheels.

The term is more common in British English: The propshaft snapped and we had to get towed.

Short for propeller shaft, originally referring to the shaft connecting an engine to a ship's or aircraft's propeller.
