wheel lock
Spinning ignition mechanism
A wheel lock is an early firearm ignition mechanism where a spinning steel wheel strikes against pyrite to create sparks, used before flintlocks became standard.
The term also refers to a device that clamps onto a vehicle's wheel to immobilize it, used by police or parking enforcement to prevent movement until fines are paid: They put a wheel lock on my car for unpaid tickets.
