political cartoons
Satirical news drawings
Political cartoons are drawings that comment on current events, public figures, or social issues through satire and visual metaphor.
They typically exaggerate features of politicians or use symbolic imagery to make a point: The political cartoon showed the president as a puppet with corporate logos pulling the strings.
The genre has a long tradition in newspapers and magazines, where a single image conveys criticism or commentary that might take paragraphs to express in words.
