takedown
Dropping an opponent
A takedown is the act of bringing someone or something down.
In wrestling, it's a move that brings an opponent to the mat.
Online, it refers to removing content, often for legal reasons: The video was subject to a copyright takedown.
A takedown can also be a pointed critique or exposé that damages a reputation: The article was a brutal takedown of the mayor.
As an adjective, takedown describes something designed for easy disassembly: a takedown rifle.
