peoples
Distinct human communities
Peoples is the plural of people when people itself means a nation, ethnic group, or distinct community: the peoples of Southeast Asia, indigenous peoples.
This distinguishes collective groups from individuals—"people" are persons, but "peoples" are populations with shared identity, culture, or territory.
