mountain lion
Large wild feline
A mountain lion is a large wild cat native to the Americas, ranging from Canada to South America.
It goes by many regional names—cougar, puma, panther, catamount—all referring to the same tawny-colored predator.
Mountain lions are solitary hunters known for their stealth and ability to take down deer and other large prey.
Hikers in the canyon were warned about recent mountain lion sightings.
