mountaineer
Alpine sport practitioner
A mountaineer is someone who climbs mountains, especially as a sport or profession.
The term suggests technical skill and serious alpine pursuits rather than casual hiking: experienced mountaineers attempting Everest, a team of mountaineers roped together on the glacier.
As a verb, to mountaineer is to engage in mountain climbing.
