stalk
Creep after prey
Stalk names the stem or main axis of a plant, or any slender supporting structure.
Eyes may be on stalks, as with crabs.
To stalk is to pursue prey or a person stealthily and persistently; a predator stalks its quarry, and someone obsessively following another person is a stalker engaged in stalking.
She noticed someone had been stalking her social media profiles.
To stalk can also mean to walk stiffly with long strides, often conveying anger or indignation: He stalked out of the room without a word.
