carnivore

Flesh-consuming creature

A carnivore is an animal that eats meat—lions, wolves, sharks.

The term also applies to meat-eating plants like the Venus flytrap.

In casual use, carnivore describes a person who loves meat or eats it enthusiastically: I'm a carnivore—I need steak at least twice a week.

The opposite is herbivore.
