coast redwood

California's towering conifer

Coast redwood is the tallest tree species on Earth, native to the Pacific coast of North America from southern Oregon through central California.

These conifers can exceed 350 feet in height and live more than two thousand years.

The reddish, fibrous bark is thick and fire-resistant.

Coast redwoods are distinguished from their inland relatives, the giant sequoias, which are shorter but more massive in trunk diameter.
